RuPaul's Drag Race season 13 has revealed a huge twist.
The original Drag Race edition kicks off a brand new run on Thursday, January 1.
A preview clip was posted to the show's official YouTube channel on Monday (December 28) and confirmed the major rumoured twist that this year's show commences with six lip sync battles.
The move theoretically means two queens at a time will go head-to-head in a series of lip sync battles in front of judges RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley and Ross Matthews; with several queens sashaying away without participating in so much as a challenge.
However, there are 13 contestants this year, so viewers will have to wait and see how the numbers are divided.

As the preview clip shows, the news also came as a shock to RuPaul's Drag Race season 13 contestants Kandy Muse and Joey Jay, who are the first two queens to experience the new format.
"B**ch, excuse me?" Says Kandy. "We just walked into this competition and now we have to lip sync for our lives?"
"One of us is about to go home. It ain't going to be me."
Lip-syncing to Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe', she later adds: "Well, Miss Ru, I just met you and this is crazy."

While the clip doesn't reveal which queen survives the battle, it does seemingly imply only six or seven queens will be left standing by the end of the first episode.
Knowing Drag Race, we're sure there are more twists in store...
